Recall Hernia

With the school year approaching, I figured it was time to buy some new furniture for my dorm (the room in my parents basement that I’ve lived in for the past 5 years). So for cheap furniture that could get the job done, I figured Target would be a good choice. On my first trip, I purchased a 5 shelf bookcase. It was fairly cheap, fairly easy to assemble, and looks great in my room. Since I’m bored with my current computer desk that I have had for almost a decade, I decided its time for it to go. While I was picking out my bookshelf, I had my eye on a matching desk that would surely look good in place of my current desk. So I went back for it.

I got to target, located the desk and looked for the pricetag. Just a barcode. So I lift the 80 or so pound box and carry it over to the price scanner and scan it. $79.99 is a more than fair price for this fine looking desk. I lift the sucker back up onto my shoulder and make my way to the checkout line before this thing falls over and injures me. It was anything but an easy task. The checkout line is backed up so an employee onforms me that i can make my purchase at the customer service section. SoI lug it over there, scan it, the man tells me I cant buy it. I ask why not. It’s recalled. WHAT THE HELL IS IT DOING ON YOUR SHELF!?

I dont mind someone telling me I cant buy something if theres a good reason, but take it off the damn shelves before someone who wants it carries it across the store only to be told they cant buy it. I didn’t get my desk. Instead I think I got a hernia. Thank you Target.

Mike Vick

This might be one of the best pick-ups the Eagles have made in a long time. not only does he have potential but we got him for just over a million dollars. I can see why people hate Mike Vick and dont want him on the Eagles or any team for that matter. The guy plays football, he doesn’t dog-sit. If he’s gonna come here and score touchdowns, great. That’s what footballs about. People need to realize that they’re watching football and not Mike Vick chasing dogs around with a taser.

I’m not saying that what he did in the past wasn’t wrong. It absolutely was. But I wont be thinking about that when he’s scrambling for 100 yards per game. Would i let him play fetch with my dog? Hell no. Would I like him to be backing up Donavan McNabb? Hell yes.

Anything Goes in West Philly

As I was leaving for lunch with my boss, Tony, yesterday, we were on the subject of how different the suburbs are from the city that we work in (West Philly). Tony explained to me that this city is the reason Will Smith’s mom made him “move in with his auntie and uncle in belair.” Apparently anything and everything goes in West Philly.

And as he was telling me this, we turned the corner, and he points and says “like that! what the hell is that!?” When i turned my head i was greeted with the backside of a colored woman squatted down, doing her business right on the sidewalk. i knew the city was different. i didn’t know how different.

My Gift and My Curse

being down the shore for the week has deprived me of my time at MyPhl17. when i woke around 11:00 a.m. i was greeted with a text from tony, my boss, asking if i was in today. after reminding him that i was in the lovely town of ocean city for the week, he wished me the best on my vacation and reminded me of the single greatest perk of working in the television industry.

that’s right, the TV Badge. when i started my internship at the station i received an I.D. card with the MyPhl Logo on it. That’s when Tony revealed the secret behind these badges. the fact that women flocked to the sight of television personnel was the attraction behind the laminated identification.

perhaps it could have been of great use down here in Ocean City where the women pass by the dozens. but my girlfriend, who is accompanying me, would fullheartedly disapprove. i would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the MyPhl staff for wasting their efforts in making my own TV Badge. as that badge sits on the dashboard of my hynudai tiburon with no airbags, i know that i have let you guys down.

Tough Tasks

So I get to work today around 9. I’m a web intern at MyPhl17, a TV Network station in Philadelphia. The first thing my adviser (if that’s what he would be called), Tony Romeo, tells me and my fellow intern Nick is that he’s gonna dump a crap job on us. So I’m thinking great, just what i wanted to hear. He goes on to tell us that we have to revise the “That’s Hot,” “Football Lingerie,” and “Girl of the Day” web pages that we just sold.

HOW IS THIS A CRAP JOB???

It’s not! I looked at beautiful women all day wearing next to nothing (I know I’m gonna hear about this from my girlfriend). I didn’t expect the internship to be hard but I also didn’t expect it to be this great either. Come to think of it, most of the stories I have covered while working with Tony have been about good looking women, sports (Phillies), and great TV programming. I’m beginning to think that me and T. Roe should try our luck at FHM or Maxim Magazine.

2010 Mustang GT

this spring, ford put out the new 2010 mustang. right now i have mixed feelings about the new rendition of the american favorite. one thing that i’m very happy about is the hop up in the rear haunch. i thought this was what was missing from the previous model. it really brings it back to the classic muscle car that it once was. i also like that the headlights are a bit more crowded by the surrounding exterior. however, i don’t like that the center fog lights have a molding around them. they would look fine standing alone. and the tail lights, they don’t bother me at all. if anything,  i think they’ll grow on people including myself. the new power dome hood definitely makes the ‘stang look more aggressive.

what’s bothering me is that the GT front bumper is weak. why not put the V6 bumper on there? its much more aggressive and almost gives it a GT500 look. maybe its me but i think the bumpers should be switched.  but the interior, gorgeous. ford finally hit with the red leather and white stripe, it gives it a simple, classic, muscle look. and the rest of the interior goes along with it. i could be leaning more towards the 05-09 interior but the differences are subtle. but of course you’ll pay more for this interior.

overall, im not sure i’d shell out the 25-30 grand for one of these beauties, personally. but ford really hit a longer ball with they’re revisions on the newest mustang. i’ll give it a thumbs up. but if you want perfection…shelby gt500.
